Sweet & Spicy Barbeque Sauce

2 cups tomato sauce
1/4 cup cider vinegar
2 tbl brown sugar
1 small onion, minced
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tsp ground allspice
1 tsp celery seed, ground
1/2 tsp anise seed, ground
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp cayenne
1 tsp salt
2 tsp horseradish
Ground black pepper to taste
  • Combine all ingredients in a saucepan
  • Bring to a simmer and cook, stirring occasionally for about 30 minutes
  • Let stand at room temperature several hours, or refrigerate overnight
  • Serve with barbeque
