Cheese with Fresh Fruit

Contributed by: Melinda

I have a few after dinner treats I like to serve guests, but by far the easiest are cheese and fruit. If you're serving 4 people, choose 1 cheese and 1 fruit. For a party, select several and include some cookies or serve dessert after the cheese. Below are a few complimentary combinations.

Double or Triple cream Brie cheese, rind on with Grapes
Jarlsberg cheese with Peaches or Plums
Chevre with Strawberries
Stilton or Danish Blue cheese with Pears
Garnish with tiny herb flowers if desired
  • This can be served on a wooden cutting board or pretty platter. If you have a large group, prepare more than one platter with 1 or 2 cheese each.
  • Give each guest a small appetizer or cake plate and a dessert fork
  • Unwrap cheese and place on the platter leaving enough room for guests to cut and serve their own cheese
  • Clean and slice fruit. You can sprinkle some lime or lemon juice over the fruit if you wish, but it probably won't last long enough to turn color
  • Place fruit onto the platter next to the cheese and garnish if desired
