Iced Tea with Stevia
Stevia is an herb from south america that is used as a sweetener. It has no effect on blood glucose levels and virtually no calories. The equivalent to 1 teaspoon of sugar is 1/16 to 1/32 of a teaspoon of stevia. I have a powdered form and liquid forms are also available. Read the packaging to see if the product has already been diluted.
5 cups water
1/8 tsp pure stevia powder (or equivalent)
7 teabags - your choice
Ice cubes
- Add stevia to water in a saucepan and bring just to a boil
- Turn off heat and add tea bags
- Cover and let steep for about 1 hour - yes, it will be strong
- Remove teabags and add ice to the pan
- Allow to cool to room temperature
- Fill a pitcher with ice and pour tea over
- Refrigerate
Sweetness is a matter of personal preference. This is fairly mild - try 1/4 teaspoon if you have a sweet tooth.
