How to Make Home Made Bruschetta or Crostini

Making your own bruschetta or crostini can give your appetizer or antipasta presentations a much more vibrant flavor. It's a very simple process and only takes a few minutes. They store well, so can be done ahead.

1 french baguette loaf
2-3 large cloves garlic, sliced in half (optional)
Olive oil
  • Slice the loaf on a diagonal into 1/4 - 1/3 inch slices
  • Lay on a baking sheet with or without a rack
  • Toast under the broiler, turning with tongs when lightly browned
  • When toasted on both sides, remove to a board
  • If desired, rub one side of each crostini lightly with cut side of garlic
  • Toast can be stored at this point or prepared with topping if making bruschetta
  • Brush lightly with olive oil and place on a serving tray or top with desired topping - Some bruschetta toppings
