Molasses Cookies

1 1/2 Cup Shortening
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup Molasses
2 eggs
4 teaspoons baking powder
4 cups flour
1 teaspoon cloves
1 teaspoon ginger
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Melt shortening in a 3-4 quart saucepan over low heat.
  • Remove from heat; let cool.
  • Add sugar, molasses and egg; beat well.
  • Sift together flour, soda, cloves, ginger, cinnaomon and salt.
  • Add to first mixture. Mix well, Chill.
  • Form into 1Ó balls and roll in granulated sugar and place on Cookie sheet 2 inches apart.
  • Bake in 375 degree oven for 8-10 minutes.
