How to Roast Sweet or Chili Peppers



When you roast peppers, the flesh becomes tender and the flavor becomes much more intense as well as a bit sweeter.

  • Wash and dry whole peppers leaving stem on

  • Turn on fan
  • Turn flame to medium and place whole pepper directly on top of burner
    Outdoor Grill Instructions
  • Heat coals to medium
  • Place whole pepper on grill
    For either...
  • Allow the skin to blacken and then turn to another side
  • Continue process until the outer skin is completely blackened
  • Remove to a plastic bag or to a bowl covered with plastic wrap
  • When pepper has cooled enough to handle, rub off all blackened skin
  • Cut stem end off and remove seeds and membrane
  • The peppers are now ready to use in your recipe
