Turkey with Swiss Chard Pasta

1 1/4 lb. ground turkey
4 cups shredded swiss chard
1 medium onion, chopped
2 cups chopped fresh tomatoes, or 1 14oz. can diced tomatoes
1 6oz. can tomato paste
1 cup white wine
1 cup chicken broth, vegetable broth or water
4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
1/2 tsp hot red pepper flakes
1/2 cup fresh basil, chopped
Salt & Pepper
3/4 lb. thin whole wheat spaghetti
  • Brown turkey in a large pot
  • Add onion, red pepper flakes and 1/2 tsp salt - cook until onion is soft
  • Add garlic and tomato paste
  • Add chopped tomatoes, white wine and broth
  • Bring to a low boil, reduce heat and simmer to desired consistency (you can thin with more broth or wine if desired)
  • Cook pasta to al dente according to package directions
  • Adjust seasonings for sauce and serve over pasta
