Fall Turkey Burgers
The autumn equinox is just around the corner, leaves are just beginning to fall and what could be better on a warm, almost-fall evening than the comforting flavors of Thanksgiving, without any of the fuss or heating up the oven. These could be grilled as easily, but I think the oven brings out that truly thanksgiving turkey flavor!
What you need
- 1 1/4 lb ground turkey, preferrably a blend of thigh & breast meat
- 1/2 medium onion, grated
- 1 tbl fresh sage leaves, minced
- 1 tbl fresh thyme leaves, minced
- 2 large garlic cloves, minced or grated
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- freshly ground black pepper to taste
How to make it
- Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl and blend well
- Form into 4 patties
- Heat fat (duck fat if available) over medium-high heat in a skillet
- Brown burgers on both sides -- about 2 minutes each side
- Cover and continue cooking until done
Serve with steamed fresh green beans and green salad with fresh tomatoes
