Grilled Fruit

You can grill most fruits on your outdoor grill with out any difficulty. Place them on the grill as soon as you remove the main meal. Or do them in advance and reheat when ready to serve. A great accompaniment to most meals, but equally good as a dessert with ice cream or sauce.

What you need

  1. Fresh Pineapple rings
  2. Freestone Peach halves
  3. Figs
  4. Oranges
  5. Bananas

How to make it

  1. Use all or any combination of the fruits above prepared according to the following: Peel pineapple and cut into 3/4 to 1 inch rounds, Cut peaches in half and remove pits (leave skin on), Remove fig stems and slice about 1 inch from stem end toward base, Wash oranges and slice in 3/4 to 1 inch slices (leaving peel on), Peel, but don't remove banana skin, replace like a bundle
  2. Except for the banana, baste fruit with melted butter, margarine or light olive oil
  3. Place directly over hot coals and grill until heated, but not mushy
  4. Remove and serve with ice cream, or make a sauce by mixing your choice of citrus joice with honey or place a good slice of Brie Cheese on top of fruit as soon as it comes off the grill
  5. This can be garnished with toasted nuts or coconut
