Scottish Shortbread

Scots use powdered - granulated will taste a little different - good with either powdered or granulated

What you need

  1. 2 cubes butter (Don't use margarine)
  2. 2 1/2 cup flour
  3. 1/2 cup powdered sugar or 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  4. 1 teas vanilla

How to make it

  1. Combine flour and sugar together.
  2. Cut in butter until mixture resembles fine crumbs.
  3. Form mixture into a ball and knead until smooth.
  4. Press into square baking dish, 8x8inches.
  5. With fingers press until edges form a crust (lip) on edge and then press with the tines of a ford making a lined crust.
  6. Bake at 325 degrees for 30 min.Until crust is browned a golden brown.
  7. Cool and cut into squares Or rectangles.
