Basic Tomato Sauce

Great quick sauce for pasta or to use in anthing requiring crushed tomatoes or tomato sauce.

4 cups peeled, seeded and diced tomatoes
Olive Oil
Garlic
Salt & Pepper
Crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Heat a large skillet and add olive oil
  • Add garlic and hot pepper flakes and cook a few minutes
  • When garlic just begins to color, add tomatoes
  • Add salt & pepper and bring to a boil
  • Reduce heat and simmer until tomatoes break down (usually about 15 - 20 minutes)
  • Add cooked pasta or use in other recipes
