Onion Bhaji's
What you need
- 1 cup besan flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 Tbl chopped cilantro
- 2-3 onions, halved and sliced
- (optional) 1 tsp each ground coriander, garam masala, turmeric, chili powder
- 1 - 1 1/4 cup cold water
- Vegetable Oil
- Salt & Pepper
How to make it
- Blend flour, soda and 1/2 tsp kosher salt in a mixing bowl
- Add spices and cilantro
- Add the onion slices and coat well with the flour/spice mixture
- Add about 1 cup of the cold water to blend into a paste like consistency
- Heat oil to about 350º
- Spoon by Tablespoon several at a time, into the oil and cook for 3-4 minutes until browned and cooked through
- Drain on a rack and keep warm
This can be served with seasoned yogurt as a sauce.
