Baharat Spiced Shrimp

Baharat spice blend can be purchased pre-made at My Spice Sage or made yourself. It's a blend of black pepper, paprika, cloves, cumin, nutmeg, cardamom and red pepper. It can also include coriander or sumac.

Serve this shrimp with Saffron Rice.

What you need

  1. 1 lb. large shrimp, peeled, deveined and tail removed
  2. Olive Oil
  3. 1-2 tsp baharat spice blend

How to make it

  1. Lay shrimp out in a single layer on a platter and sprinkle with the spice blend - toss to distribute adding more spice blend if needed to dust evenly
  2. Heat olive oil in a large non-stick skillet
  3. When oil begins to ripple, add shrimp in a single layer
  4. Cook on medium for 2-3 minutes until edges are pink
  5. Flip and cook another 2 minutes or so until just barely cooked - they'll continue to cook a bit when removed from the heat
