Beefy Pizza with Cheddar

Delicious flavors and most ingredients are often on hand.
What you need
- 1 recipe Whole Grain Pizza Dough
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 minced onion
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp dried parsley
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 3/4 cup minced crimini mushrooms
- 3 thinly sliced scallions
- 1 tsp or more crushed pepper flakes
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- ground black pepper to taste
- 1 1/2 cup or more grated sharp cheddar cheese
- 2-3 Tbl grated romano or parmesan cheese
- Cornmeal
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 450-500º degrees with pizza stone inside
- Cook beef in a large skillet over medium high heat until cooked through
- Add minced onion and cook until onion is translucent
- Add garlic and dried spices and cook 1-2 minutes
- Add tomato sauce, reduce heat to medium low and continue cooking until tomato sauce is reduced
- Roll out pizza dough to approximately 12 inches (basic recipe makes
two 12 inch rounds)
- Sprinkle a bit of cornmeal on a pizza peel and transfer one pizza round
- Spoon on half the beef mixture and spread gently over the dough leaving 1/2 inch edge
- Top with half the mushrooms, scallions and cheeses
- Transfer pizza to the preheated stone in the oven and repeat for the second pizza round
- Turn in the oven to brown crust evenly
- Pizza is done with the crust is nicely browned and cheese is bubbly and fully melted
- Remove and let cool a few minutes before slicing
